Kamakura Rooftops Cafe & Diner | Foodie Friday | KRUSH Photography

Kamakura, Japan is a famous tourist location, better¬†known as the home of the Great Buddha. But it should also be known as the home of one of the best American burgers…at least in Japan.

Following it’s namesake, it is found on the rooftop of one of the buildings close to the JR Kamakura Station. As you exit the station, walk forward, but more towards the left where you’ll see a decent sized bright red tori gate – the entrance way to many great shops.

As you turn down this street, you’ll see a Baskin Robbins immediately at your left. Look up, and you’ll find the signs for the many other establishments that share the building, including the sign for Kamakura Rooftops Cafe & Diner on the 6th floor.

Walk in to the little entrance way just past the¬†Baskin Robbins, and you’ll see stairs and an elevator. Although it might be a good idea to get a head start on burning some of those calories, we opted for the elevator.

As you step off the elevator, you’ll see that it’s got a rustic look to it. Plenty of seating and great views, and although we went during lunch on a weekday, you can tell this place is probably hopping on weekends and evenings, and I’m sure the view is just as beautiful at night.

They have a pretty decent size menu (including some popular American beers) with lots of pre-designed options and toppings including avocado, pineapple, and grilled avocado, but you can also add any toppings you wish to the existing burgers items. Not only that, you have the option to get a full sized burger, but you can also get a half burger, which was the perfect size for me. And for another 400 yen, you can make it a set which includes 2 side items (I recommend the fried potatoes), and a drink.

The hand made burgers were absolutely delicious….seasoned perfectly. I will definitely be back again, and if you like burgers, I recommend you check it out soon too! You don’t know what you’re missing!
